5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Call Yourself an SEO

by BonsaiJon on March 7, 2009

Clueless SEO

Reason 1: You’re learning SEO just because your job title will sound like CEO.

Reason 2: You believe that the way to get noticed by Search Engines is by submitting your site.
Don’t insult search engines, use Sitemaps, Links and Update Your Content.  Using index, follow is like telling someone to breath, you don’t need to do it.

Reason 3: You think SEO is FREE.
It’s true, being listed in search engines is free.  However, more often than not, SEO takes time and energy which both cost money. SEO is Cost Effective, it’s not Free.

Reason 4: Because you think that you can optimize your site once and you will benefit for ever.
This may be true if you have no competition.  Optimizing your site is like taking a bath, you must do it frequently.

Reason 5:Because you believe that a competing SEO company has a deal with Google.
This is a bogus lie, no company has deals with search engines and is only said by unethical SEO companies and they give a bad name to the industry.
